
Rosie Perez, born Rosa Maria Perez June 6, 1964, is an American choreographer and actress. Her breakout moment came with Tina's performance in Do the Right Thing (1989), and then White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez's portrayal of Tina in Fearless (1993) brought her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Perez's roles as a star in films include It Could Happen to You (1994) and The Road to El Dorado(2000), Pineapple Express (2007) as well as Birds of Prey (2018). She also received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 1990, 1994 and) and a third Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her performance as the Flight Attendant. She has also appeared in stage plays on Broadway such as The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and Fish in the Dark. She also co-hosted on the ABC talk show The View during the series in its 18th season. She attended Grover Cleveland High School, located in the Ridgewood neighborhood in Queens. In 1999 her mother was in poverty in the Woodside Houses, when she died from complications of AIDS.
