Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for more than 20 years. She's also an accomplished public speaking. She founded Feminist Frequency which hosts videos and commentary analyzing the representation of women in pop cultural. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American journalist and critic who has been awarded awards for her work, is a feminist blogger. Feminist Frequency investigates how women are represented in pop culture. She's determined to dismantle stereotypes of women as they are portrayed in popular media. Furthermore, she works to raise awareness about online harassment targeted at women, and other those who are marginalized. Sarkeesian, who has an MA in Social and Political Thought in the field of social and political thought from York University, is a sought after public speakers. She has spoken at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. When she was a student at the university, Sarkeesian became interested in the issues surrounding gender and rights for women at an early stage. Someone who hoped to start a web-series examining the gender representation of video games was targeted by the internet campaign. The incident did not deter her, rather it strengthened her determination as feminist media critic. Many awards have been presented to her as a way of acknowledging her contributions to the field she have made. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist for a long time and was the creator of Feminist Frequency. The educational non-profit explores the role of women within the popular culture stories.
