Her first job was as an actress when she was just four years old. At the beginning of her career, she performed as an actor on TV shows such as Doogie Howser Amen and M.D. In the year she turned thirteen, her debut role in a film Friday took place. She first became famous in 1997 with her performance as Cisely batiste (a teenager who is struggling) as a troubled teenager in Eve's Bayou, for which she won two nominations and received her N.A.A.C.P.
